MORE ABOUT THE STORY:
A modern day Alice in the guise of an English Rock Star receives a mysterious gift upon her return from a world tour—a Rubik’s cube with bands of flashing squares— that once activated sends her down a rabbit’s hole into other worlds and dimensions.
November Fox, named after the red critter that found her in a basket one cold November morning, was an orphan raised by unloving keepers in a Dickensian orphanage. With a hole in her heart and a cosmic identity yet to be discovered, she accepts this invitation “to find the key within herself to unlock the mysteries of form.”
Her story is told by The Architect, from the race of beings who create our world of form. Written on parchment, stuffed in a hand-blown glass bottle, it washes ashore from this other dimension onto Brighton Beach. It is found by a grieving Erica, who is inspired by November’s quest and returns to London as more pages mysteriously appear.
Finding herself in a white room with a pastoral painting on the wall, November touches it and is drawn into the world of the painting. There she meets Klaus, a baby elephant on a flying cloud who has lost his parents to hunters, and joins her quest which for him will hopefully lead to more “cakes to eat.”
After traveling through the Black Forest, they come to “The Fortress of Forgotten Fish” and then through other wormholes to “The Geometric World of Mind” to the “Desert of Intention,” which lead her to the Mad Professor. He may be her father, but before this is resolve, they fall through another tunnel into more mystifying adventures.
Buoyed by her inner journey, November wakes up at her band’s rehearsal studio, wondering if it was all a lucid dream, until her “real” world becomes populated with these dream figures, like Klaus the German reporter. All these treads come together at a final rock performance as she embraces her role as a LOTNE—Leaders of the New Earth.
November Fox – Following Joy is fantasy novel that asks the question, “Things aren’t always as they seem; do we wake or do we dream?” November’s journey and its implied meaning is that we can use the power of dreaming and imagination to remake ourselves and our world. Its limited edition large-format hardcover has 42 illustrations, and with an Augmented Reality Technology feature to explore its visual depths. It is definitely a novel the “new generation” will embrace.
